Privacy Policy

Smarthome is a local-network application developed by Ubunatic. It controls compatible devices on the user's own network. The application does not contain advertising, analytics, telemetry, or a developer-operated cloud service.

Data handled by the application

  • FRITZ!Box host, port, username, and password are entered by the user or imported from another Smarthome installation. They are encrypted at rest using the Android Keystore and encrypted shared preferences.
  • TV connection information and application preferences are stored locally on the device.
  • Camera access is used only while the user scans an encrypted Smarthome account QR code. Images from the camera are processed on-device and are not stored or transmitted by Smarthome.
  • Account-transfer QR codes contain authenticated encrypted data, not plaintext credentials. The receiving user must also enter the six-digit pairing code shown by the sending device.

Network communication

Smarthome communicates directly with the user's FRITZ!Box and television over the local network. It does not transmit credentials, camera images, usage information, or other personal data to the developer. Device vendors may independently process traffic according to the configuration and privacy terms of their products.

Sharing and retention

The developer does not receive, collect, sell, or share user data through the application. Local credentials and preferences remain on the Android device until the user clears the application's storage or uninstalls it.

User controls

Users can replace their stored FRITZ!Box credentials from the application's Settings action. Android's application settings can clear all locally stored Smarthome data. Uninstalling the application also removes its local data according to Android platform behavior.
